SHA-3
Compute SHA-3 hashes at 224, 256, 384, or 512 bits.

What is SHA-3?
SHA-3 is the third generation of NIST hash standards, published in FIPS 202 (2015). It is based on the Keccak sponge construction and produces 224, 256, 384, or 512-bit digests. SHA-3 is a hedge against future breaks of SHA-2; both are currently considered secure.
How to use
Choose the output size (224, 256, 384, or 512 bits). Type or paste text into the input box.
For example, the UTF-8 text abc with SHA3-256 produces:
3a985da74fe225b2045c172d6bd390bd855f086e3e9d525b46bfe24511431532
SHA-3 vs Keccak
SHA-3 is Keccak with different padding. Ethereum's keccak256 is original Keccak, not NIST SHA-3. If you need Ethereum-style hashes, use a Keccak tool, not this one.
FAQ
Should I use SHA-3 instead of SHA-256?
Either is fine. SHA-2 is more widely deployed and better supported in hardware. SHA-3 provides defense in depth.
Why does my hash differ from another tool?
Check output size, encoding, and whether the other tool computes Keccak instead of SHA-3.
