What is CRC-32?
CRC-32 (Cyclic Redundancy Check, 32-bit) is a checksum used to detect accidental changes in data. It is fast and simple, used in ZIP, PNG, Ethernet, and many file formats. CRC-32 is not a cryptographic hash: it can be deliberately manipulated.
How to compute CRC-32
Type or paste text. The tool computes CRC-32 over the UTF-8 bytes. Choose Hex or Decimal output.
For example, the UTF-8 text abc produces 352441c2 (hex) or 891568578 (decimal).
FAQ
Is CRC-32 secure?
No. Use SHA-256 or HMAC if you need integrity against attackers.
Which CRC-32 variant?
This is the standard CRC-32 (IEEE 802.3, ISO-HDLC, PKZIP), polynomial 0xEDB88320, reflected, initial 0xFFFFFFFF, final XOR 0xFFFFFFFF.
