What is a semantic JSON diff?

A semantic diff compares two JSON documents by their parsed values, not their raw text. Key order does not matter, whitespace does not matter, and only actual data differences are reported. This is what you usually want when comparing API responses or configuration files.

FAQ

How is this different from text diff?

Text diff reports every whitespace and key-order difference. Semantic diff ignores those and reports only real value differences. Less noisy and more useful for structured data.

What paths are reported?

Each difference is reported as a JSON Pointer-style path: /users/0/name for the name field of the first user.

Does it handle arrays?

Yes. Arrays are compared by index. Reordered arrays are reported as differences at every changed position.

Is my JSON sent anywhere?

No. Comparison runs entirely in your browser.
