What is JSON minification?
Minification removes all whitespace that is not inside a string. A JSON document can have indentation and newlines removed without changing its meaning, which reduces payload size in APIs, storage, and configuration files.
The output is functionally identical to the input: any parser will produce the same values.
FAQ
Does minification change the data?
No. Whitespace outside of string values is insignificant in JSON.
How much smaller does it get?
Typically 20-40% for indented JSON. Exact savings depend on the amount of nesting.
Is my JSON sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
